Inquisitor 3.2

Requires: 10.4+ Safari 3.0+

A free InputManager plugin from David Watanabe (Acquisition, NewsFire) that adds live predictive searching to Safari. This replaces the current search bar functionality with a fast live-search style drop down. Start typing your search, and the list appears with possible queries.

Version 3.2 features a revamped interface, and the integration of Yahoo! Search BOSS (for the five people who use Yahoo! search). A subtle, but welcome. change is a white background on the favicons, which enhances most sites (favicons tend to be designed for a white address bar).

Features

  • Includes searches from your search history in the suggestion pop-down, highlighted and prioritized by the last time searched.
  • User-customizable shortcut-triggered search sites. For example (using the default settings), hitting return in the search field searches Google, option-return takes you directly to the first Google result, control-return takes you to A9.com’s results, option-command-i does an image search, etc. These shortcuts also work when the search field is not active, so you can flip between different search sites with relative ease simply by using the keyboard.
  • Adds search engine options at the bottom of the window
  • Search results include summary
  • a search site preset library
  • reordering of search sites
  • the ability to configure the number of suggestions provided
  • the ability to invert the order of search suggestions and instant results
  • automatic download of custom favorites icons for search sites
