Alexander Atallah has generalised his nifty Google Notebook sidebar extension not only to work on Safari (previously, it was only a Camino extension), but also to accommodate a range of web apps, including Google Talk, Google Docs and Remember the Milk. Optionally, there is a custom sidebar that can be configured to work with your web app of choice.

The extension is just a little script, that can be installed in three easy steps:

  1. Drag script to ~/Library/Scripts/, or make the directory if you don’t already have it.
  2. Open the application AppleScript Utility from Applications/AppleScript/ and check “Show script menu in Menu Bar.” A scroll will appear at the top of the screen.
  3. Click the scroll when you’re in Safari and, in the drop-down menu, click on the script to run it.
