Omniweb style tabs in Safari?

Aug 26, 04:23 am

It sounds like one of my cheese-fuelled daydreams, but It looks as if Hetima (developer of the essential SafariStand plugin) has done it! Take a look at this screenshot in his Flickr Stream and you’ll see what I’m getting excited about.

Can’t wait until this is released!

  1. This is what i miss most about using Safari and not OW anymore. This would be fantastic!

  2. I hate to sound skeptical, since I’d love this as much as anybody, but check out the address bar for the active tab in that screenshot.

Considering that it contains ‘tabs.png’, I’m inclined to believe that this is currently a mockup. It’d be amazing if it does happen though.

  3. Hey, Kyle: take a longer look at the address bar.

    It’s this image: http://www.omnigroup.com/images/images-5/features/tabs.png

  4. Kyle:
How can you even post something like that without actually trying the url first..?

  5. Wow you guys aren’t that smart, look at the left of the screen, see the X’s? That’s what they are talking about the images is a comparison nothing more….geez

  6. Well aren’t I the inattentative one?

Sorry guys, I think its one of the last remaining worries I have after coming from Windows; that all the really cool stuff ends up being vaporware.

I’d pay for this gladly. Ironic that including Saft, I’d have spent more on making Safari have Omniweb’s features than I did for my Omniweb license in the first place. Thanks for the heads up Jon, despite my cynical take on things!

  7. Lets just say that this most certainly isn’t vapourware. It works, and works very well! ;o)

  9. Wow, absolutely amazing. The screencaptures in the tabs could be better, say a complete screenshot from the page, but it looks really cool! Yay!
